The demand for software is increasing at a rapid pace with no end in sight. This growth has spawned a dramatic increase in globally distributed software development activity, which in turn, has sharpened the focus on using a defined software testing process for building software. Without a defined process, testing is unmanaged and unprocessed causing results to be half haphazard, uncontrollable, and poor quality. Additionally many enterprise software solutions have complicated software installation procedures which can cause erroneous installation and eventually cause software failures if the process is not well defined. In complex software projects, testing experience plays a valuable role in intuition-based error detection, which should also be part of a defined software testing process. Some enterprises expect quality results but do not see the connection between quality and defined processes. Join Dalim and Tony as they present:

• How to educate software stakeholders and management on the value of implementing a defined software testing process.
• How to streamline the software installation process through a well managed repository of common errors for troubleshooting configuration issues.

About the Speakers...

Dalim Khandaker recently joined NTT DATA Vertex as a VP, Quality Assurance and Testing Practice. He is a proven leader and technology manager with more then 30 years experience in industry sectors like Banking, Manufacturing, Insurance, Telecommunication, and Information Technology Consulting. Before joining NTT DATA Vertex, he spent 12 years in CGI, where he held multiple leadership positions in program management, quality assurance, test management, application performance & tuning, application security assurance, and infrastructure system support. Dalim is a frequent speaker at leading industry worldwide conferences and has participated in several technology round table discussions sponsored and organized by eWeek & Computer/IT World. He has professional certifications in IT Service Management (ITIL) and from the QAI Global Institute as a Certified Software Tester (CSTE).

Tony Fok manages the Onsite – Offshore model for NTT DATA Vertex at their client site to develop their prestigious product of Onboard Retailing (Onboard Store Technology) and Merchandising platform. He is working as a Senior QA Lead, with more than 7 years experience in Software Testing and Quality Assurance. He is responsible for delivering quality services and products to the client and increasing the offshore resources with the client. He handles an offshore QA team which is very challenging in context of time zone, query resolution, trouble shooting, implementing software processes and tight deadlines.

Presentation overview:

Software automation has evolved through a number of generations from simple record and playback to data and keyword driven frameworks. Today there is a growing demand in the IT world to speed up the software automation process, increase the ROI, and to decrease the ongoing maintenance cost.

Open2Test framework is a totally Open Source Tool which can answer these challenges.  It is a representative of the next generation, scriptless keyword driven framework and is technology and tool agnostic. It’s ready to be used out-of-the-box, yet expandable and it is an easily maintainable solution.  It is composed of a standard set of keywords that work without changes with a number of open source and enterprise level automation tools, such as HP Quick Test Professional, IBM Rational Robot, Silk Test, Selenium, Test Partner, e-Tester and OpenScript.

Open2Test addresses many existing automation challenges, including time to automate, maintenance issues, code redundancy, transition to new technologies.

He is working at a “Big 5” bank and is responsible to deliver quality automation services and products to the client in an Onsite-Offshore model.  Serhiy holds a Bachelor Degree in Computer Science.
