Japanese Leading IT Vendor on an Incredible Growth Curve
TORONTO, ONTARIO, Nov 03, 2011 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) -- The NTT DATA Group has been on an aggressive growth spurt the past four years. Seeing that they had a shrinking market size, due to an aging population in Japan, NTT DATA decided they needed to expand to other continents to become a world leader.
NTT DATA is majority owned by NTT (Nippon Telegram Telegraph) which is the second largest telecom globally. This stable ownership allowed for large cash investments to be made for innovation, acquisition and organic growth.
In 2007 NTT DATA started an acquisition spree with an Indian outsourcing specialist in quality assurance and development: Vertex Software, now operating as NTT DATA Vertex. Between 2007 and the present, they acquired companies including notables such as: Itelligence AG, Cirquent GmbH, Intelligroup, Inc., and Keane International.
These purchases and other investments have allowed NTT DATA to move from the 15th largest in 2007 to 7th largest in 2010. (Gartner - Dec 3, 2010)
John Macdonald, CEO, North America - NTT DATA Vertex said: "The NTT DATA style has been one to encourage and grow existing teams. NTT DATA expects their executive leaders to be inspired and creative in achieving the targets. They have been very helpful in giving us the freedom to grow in the way we want.
In Canada, we have a solid record of client satisfaction and therefore we have been growing exponentially. We do so by tightly focusing on our competencies in software quality assurance, specifically in test management, automation, performance, load and mobile testing. We know we have a competitive advantage in delivery and tools, in this area."
Eiji Yamada, Director and Executive Vice President from NTT DATA said: "We have purchased many important pieces to become one NTT DATA team. As we form Global One teams to implement the best practices of each company to all countries, we will expect new competitive advantages to result in further growth. Also further strategic acquisitions and investments in new solutions and products will help us establish quality leadership in the industries where we choose to excel.
We have strong experience as a systems integrator, solution provider and provide innovative tools to add value for our clients."
Further growth can be expected for NTT DATA and it is safe to assume we will see further investments in the North American market.

Large-scale Real-time Data Analysis Trial Project Wins 2011 Sybase Innovator Awards
NTT DATA CORPORATION
NTT DATA CORPORATION on September 13 was named winner of a 2011 Innovator Award by Sybase, Inc. for a large-scale real-time data analysis trial project using the BRIMOS bridge monitoring system. Innovator Awards are given to Sybase customers or partners who have demonstrated the most innovative use of Sybase® technologies, creating cutting-edge applications and driving success for their organizations
Overview of Sybase Innovator Awards
Sybase Innovator Awards are granted to recognize the creation of innovative applications using Sybase technology. A small number of awards are given each year to enterprises throughout the world who are customers or partners of Sybase. Awards are presented in the following three categories.
- Manage - enabling robust data access and movement
- Analyze- delivering value to the enterprise from data assets
- Mobilize - empowering enterprise mobility or enabling mobile messaging services (interoperability, content delivery or mCommerce)
NTT DATA has been selected for an award, in recognition of our application for analyzing sensor data to detect structural problems in bridges. The application makes use of the high-speed data analysis platform Sybase RAP - The Trading Edition® along with the real-time data analysis engine Sybase Aleri Streaming Platform.
Overview of the Large-scale Real-time Data Analysis Trial Project
The project recognized in this award is an NTT DATA initiative in proactive BI, provision of business intelligence services and information in advance by anticipating user needs based on behavior and events. As one such service, we are developing large-scale real-time data analysis technology targeting life log and sensor data. The bridge monitoring system BRIMOS used in the trial project analyzes data from dozens of sensors installed in a bridge, which measure physical quantities such as displacement, incline, and strain, producing thousands of data samples each second. The trial was implemented using Sybase solutions for routine conversion processing and for the processing necessary for making overall decisions from data collected by multiple sensors and detecting abnormal conditions. The trial results confirmed ample processing capability for handling these operations. Simulated testing, moreover, assuming as many as 10,000 sensors demonstrated the ability to perform real-time analysis of hundreds of thousands of data samples per second. |

Keane Earns a Spot on 2011 InformationWeek 500 List of Top Technology Innovators Across America
QATalystTM improves software quality with on-demand proactive quality process
Boston, MA, September 14, 2011 – Keane, Inc., an NTT DATA Company and a U.S.-based IT services firm, today announced that its QATalystTM solution has been recognized on InformationWeek 500, an annual listing of the top technology innovators in the U.S. The 2011 list was revealed last night at a gala awards ceremony at the exclusive InformationWeek 500 Conference taking place at the St. Regis Monarch Beach Resort in Dana Point, CA. This year marks the sixth consecutive year Keane has made this prestigious list.
“The goal of the award winning QATalyst solution is to help CIOs accelerate the change that drives business innovation, and software is often the key,” said John McCain, president and CEO of Keane. “To remain competitive, it is important for companies to bring new software to market as quickly as possible. By optimizing software quality with QATalyst, organizations stand to save as much as 35 – 40% of the average total quality investments typically made, while accelerating change – a true innovation.”
The QATalyst solution was designed to address quality across the entire software development lifecycle. The solution serves as a missing link for the industry and delivers four critical pieces previously missing from most organizations’ quality repertoire, including quality by design, ondemand test environment management, on-demand performance testing in the cloud and data quality automation. These components complement Keane’s established quality solution set, helping address the quality problems that plague the industry.
“For 23 years, the InformationWeek 500 has chronicled and honored the most innovative users of business technology,” said InformationWeek Editor In Chief Rob Preston. “In this day and age, however, being innovative isn’t enough. Companies and their IT organizations need to innovate faster than ever before to stay a step or two ahead of their customers, partners, and competitors. This year’s ranking placed special emphasis on those high-octane business technology innovators.”
InformationWeek identifies and honors the nation's most innovative users of information technology with its annual 500 listing and also tracks the technology, strategies, investments and administrative practices of America’s best-known companies. Top winners have included: The Vanguard Group, CME Group, Conway, National Semiconductor, Kimberly-Clark, Hilton Hotels and Unum. The InformationWeek 500 rankings are unique among corporate rankings as it spotlights the power of innovation in information technology, rather than simply identifying the biggest IT spenders. |
